The incredibly cleaver storyline of Toy Story showed us that toys are alive and what really happens when we leave the room. But now, as a big kid, you can own your own toy that comes alive right in front of your eyes. Unlike the old “action figures” which come with a few extras, the new Toy Story Buzz Lightyear robot can do a lot more than just “beep” and “boop”. He walks, talks (with moving lips), poses, obeys commands … just about everything except for “falling with style”.

Created with partnership with Disney and Pixar, it took Robosen Robotics three years to complete the new Buzz. According to the company, he’s been meticulously crafted with more than 3,000 parts, 23 servo motors and 75 microchips. He’s been equipped with micro-servos that provide realistic eye and mouth movement. Listening for commands, Buzz can introduce himself, dance and recite over 200 audio clips. He even comes with extra accessories like an extra footplate (one that says “Andy” and a blank one for you!) and two pairs of interchangeable hands for “authentic Space Ranger poses.” Al McWhiggin won’t be the only one wanting this Buzz in their toy barn.
“This Buzz Lightyear robot embodies the spirit of innovation, adventure and imagination that Toy Story fans have cherished for generations,” says the company. “The Buzz Lightyear Robot is fully voice and app-controlled, allowing fans to immerse themselves in iconic missions and scenes while controlling Buzz’s every move.”
Buzz stands 14.6 inches tall and tips the scales at 3.7 pounds. For Toy Story fans, Buzz will look great on a shelf with other collectibles but imagine what happens when he “comes to life” to impress company. (If only he could serve drinks.) But for $599, this little guy will most likely not be found in junior’s toy box.

“This collaboration with Disney and Pixar has allowed us to push the boundaries of what’s possible in toy robotics,” said Hansen Su, Co-Founder of Robosen. “We are excited to offer fans an innovative and personal way to experience the magic of Buzz Lightyear in a way that has never been done before.”
The innovative technology company, Robosen established their first headquarters in Zhongguancun, Beijing in 2008 and created their first humanoid robot in 2009. Since that time, they set up other headquarters in Shenzhen, Europe and North America. In 2021, they launched Flagship Optimus Prime modeled after the Transformers character who can be interacted with, customized and controlled by voice. And yes, he can transform all by himself.

Honestly, all of Robosen’s creations are amazing. They originally made a Space Ranger Alpha version of Buzz Lightyear which was based on the more realistic character from the 2022 spinoff movie, Lightyear. He’s still available too, but since fans have made it known that they prefer the Tim Allen version of Buzz over the Chris Evans version, they came up with the classic guy. The Space Ranger Alpha version does come with SOX the cat, but also a bigger $899 price tag.

The Buzz Lightyear Robot is available now for an MSRP of $599 at Robosen.com, and DisneyStore.com, disneystore.co.uk, Disney Store Times Square, Disney Store Oxford Street and Disney Store Dublin.
