What does Winnie-the-Pooh and Oppenheimer have in common? They were both winners this weekend as Tinsel Town celebrated the 44th Annual Razzies on Saturday and the 96th Annual Oscars on Sunday. Oppenheimer was a big winner on Sunday, but it didn’t sweep the award show winning just six of the 13 categories that it was nominated for. Christopher Nolan, Cillian Murphy and Robert Downey Jr. won their first-ever Oscars for Directing, Actor in a Leading Role and Actor in a Supporting Role. The film also won for Best Picture, Cinematography and Best Original Score.

Poor Things came in second place winning for Actress in a Leading Role (Emma Stone), Costume Design, Makeup and Hairstyling and Production Design. Da’Vine Joy Randolph won a well-deserved award for Actress in a Supporting role for holiday film, The Holdovers.

For the first time in a long time, neither Disney nor Pixar won any animated awards (they weren’t even nominated for a short animation film) losing to The Boy and the Heron. And this was a surprise – the award for Visual Effects went to Godzilla Minus One of all things.

Highlights of the award show included a nude John Cena announcing the winners for Costume Design, Ryan Gosling singing the song “I’m Just Ken” (from Barbie) surrounded by other “Kens”, and a Twins reunion with Arnold Swaggernager and Danny Devito.

As for the losers, they were given their “Golden Raspberry” trophies Saturday with that “silly ol’ bear” taking home five Razzies for the demented horror film, Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey. Megan Fox won two Razzies for her work in Johnny & Clyde (Worst Actress) and Expend4bles (Worst Supporting Actress). Jon Voight won for Worst Actor for Mercy and Sylvester Stallone has another Golden Raspberry to add to his already large collection for his work in work in Expend4bles (Worst Supporting Actress). But it wasn’t all bad news. Fran Drescher, SAF/AFTRA President won the only positive “Razzie Redeemer” award for (as they put it) “her brilliant shepherding of the actors’ guild through a prolonged 2023 strike, with a highly successful conclusion.”
