Located in San Antonio, Six Flags Fiesta Texas has just opened the gate on the park’s newest addition – a large expansion of their DC Universe themed area with three all-new rides. According to Six Flags’ press release, “This Texas-sized expansion will take guests into the iconic world of DC like never before, where they’ll experience unparalleled thrills, meet legendary DC Superheroes and DC Supervillains, and enjoy cutting-edge attractions for fans of all ages.”

While impressive in size and scope, the area isn’t themed out as much as it could be. You won’t feel like you’ve been transported to Gotham or Metropolis. Some of the attractions are “themed” by simply slapping on a particular superhero’s image and giving it an exciting name, others feature a bit more.

Now boasting of 25 rides for the whole family, Six Flags Fiesta Texas is looking better than ever.

It’s no secret that nobody does theming quite as well as Disney or Universal, so to compare Six Flags Fiesta Texas to those California and Florida parks would be unfair. The park deserves kudos for creating an environment that now caters to everyone in the family from thrill-seekers to those who prefer a tamer experience.

Now to be clear, the park already has a large DC presence with a few thrill rides, but the new expansion includes three completely new, family-friendly rides in addition to a group of re-themed kiddie rides with fresh paint. They also added more DC heroes and villains into the mix in both signage and walk around characters.

The DC Universe entrance

“We are beyond excited to unveil the largest DC Universe themed area in the U.S. and bring these iconic characters to fans in Texas like never before,” said Jeffrey Siebert, park president of Six Flags Fiesta Texas. “This expansion offers an incredible experience for fans of all ages, where they can step into thrilling new attractions, expanded themed areas, and reimagined classics. With something for everyone, it’s the ultimate place to feel like a DC Superhero—again and again.”

The biggest addition is the Cyborg Cyber Revolution. Based on the hero who is half human and half robot, this contraption looks like a giant electric mixer with four mechanical arms that rotate around each other in an interlocking pattern. Not only do the arms spin, but the entire structure moves as well. Some people who have ridden it say that it’s not as intense as it looks.

The Shazam! Tower of Eternity is a 70-foot-tall drop tower that spins and “bounces” guests rather than “dropping” them. It’s not as scary as your typical drop tower.

The Metropolis Transit Authority isn’t a thrill at all. It’s a slow-moving monorail train that travels 17 feet over the area and offers some nice views.

Batgirl Coaster Chase
  • Supergirl Sky Flight where guests ride swings that spin 200 feet in the air.
  • Poison Ivy Toxic Spin where guests will spin through the villains twisted garden in “toxic flowers”.
  • The Penguin: Gotham City Getaway took the basic car ride and turned it into an epic car chase with mischievous penguins along the tracks and a battle with Batgirl.
  • Green Lantern Emerald Flight is a revamped plane ride (like the Dumbo ride at Disneyland or Disney World).
  • The Daily Planet gift shop has been expanded to nearly twice its original size. It also serves as the entrance to the existing Superman: Krypton Coaster and Supergirl Sky Flight.

These new additions sit near Batman: The Ride, The Joker’s spinning Carnival of Chaos, DC Super-Villans Swing and Wonder Woman’s Golden Lasso Coaster. In total, Six Flags Fiesta Texas now features 25 rides to enjoy.

And the price is right to. You can purchase tickets to the park for as low as $29/person. Now go on and save the world!
