While new content is slim pickens these days on Disney+, there are a couple of little bright spots on the horizon with the help of Pixar. These artists have created two limited-time series on the streamer to air in the coming months. Now, it’s not a lot, but these two new projects are something to look forward to as they seem promising. Dream Productions is sort of a spin-off of Inside Out while Win or Lose is a totally new, original idea that looks great.

“These two series really show Pixar creativity at its finest,” said Chief Creative Officer Pete Docter. “We’re excited fans won’t have to wait long for more great content from the world of Inside Out. Dream Productions offers up a treasure trove of jokes and fun as it digs deeper into one of our favorite parts of the first film, the making of Riley’s dreams. And we consider Win or Lose a major, first-of-its-kind tentpole series, one that really showcases what I think makes our studio great: bold, imaginative storytelling; laugh-out-loud humor; and characters that we can all relate to.”

First up is Dream Productions with its four episodes taking place in between Inside Out and Inside Out 2. While Joy and the gang are a part of it, the new series focuses mainly on new characters. The mockumentary series is written and directed by Mike Jones who is known for his work on the film’s Luca and Soul.

Disney+ describes the series like this: “Riley is growing up and when her memories need some extra processing, Joy and the rest of the Core Emotions send them to Dream Productions. Acclaimed director Paula Persimmon (voice of Paula Pell) faces a nightmare of her own: Trying to create the next hit dream after being paired up with Xeni (voice of Richard Ayoade), a smug daydream director looking to step up into the big leagues of night dreams.”

The new series also features the voices of Amy Poehler, Maya Rudolph, Ally Maki, Kensington Tallman, Liza Lapira, Tony Hale, Lewis Black and Phyllis Smith.

Dream Productions debuts on December 11, 2024 on Disney+.

In February 2025, a completely fresh, new and original idea is coming for an eight-episode show called Win or Lose. This clever show is all about a big championship softball game told from eight different perspectives: the insecure kids, their helicopter parents, a lovesick umpire, etc. Each perspective appears to feature its own art style as well.

Will Forte voices Coach Dan. Other voices include Ian Chen, Izaac Wang, Milan Elizabeth Ray, Rosanna Jean Foss, Orion Tran, Kyliegh Curran, Josh Thomson, Jo Firestone, Erin Keif and Edward Hong.

“Win or Lose” (Disney+)

Win or Lose is directed, written and executive produced by Carrie Hobson and Michael Yates. Hobson worked on Turning Red, Lightyear, Elemental and was the producer for Luca while Yates worked on Toy Story 4, Soul and Turning Red.

Win or Lose debuts on February 19, 2025 on Disney+.

With any luck, these shows will do so well, that they just might create more for us to enjoy. (One can hope, right?)
