While we wait for the Fraiser reboot (it debuts on October 12, 2023 on Paramount+), people all across the country are re-watching ‘90s sitcoms according to a new study. Apparently, 35% of Americans are watching Friends, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, That 70’s Show and even Married with Children (for some reason) every week. And when Fraiser begins, it will join the ranks of popular reboots including That 90’s Show, Bel-Air and Girl Meets World.
According to Compare Internet, 74% of the men polled say that The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air is their #1 sitcom of choice (despite “the slap that was heard around the world”). In fact, 90% of black viewers polled say that the Prince is their fave.
Here’s an interesting find: While 78% of women say Full House is their favorite, 1 in 5 women are actually watching that sitcom today. Maybe that’s because they are spending their time watching the reboot, Fuller House. According to the study, it’s the most popular reboot series on streaming services today. The Bel-Air series is popular too, but not nearly as much.
One show in the study doesn’t really count in my opinion. The Simpsons is a favorite 90’s sitcom, but the show is still running new episodes.

Comparisons by State
The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air is most popular in 23 states. Friends comes in second as the favorite in 14 states followed by That 70’s Show in 4 states (Idaho, Alaska, Ohio and Arkansas) and The Simpsons (Oregon, California, Maine and Rhode Island). Full House is tops for those in Montana, Missouri adores Roseanne, South Dakota is digging Married with Children, Vermont loves King of the Hill and Kansas loves Sex and the City.

When it comes to reboots, Fuller House has taken over the TV sets in 28 states! (According to the report, it doesn’t hurt that John Stamos looks exactly the same.) Girl Meets World is most popular in eight states and That 90’s Show (which is sorta of a reboot since only two characters are the same) is popular in seven states. The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina (which is actually a remake and not a reboot of Sabrina the Teenage Witch – and a creepy one at that) is popular with the residents in Oregon, Hawaii and South Carolina. Bel-Air is only the most popular in Arizona and North Dakota. New York is a fan of the Saved by the Bell reboot and the good people of Illinois like The Conners (which makes sense since the show is set in Lanford, Illinois). Finally, 25% of the people pulled said that while they are fans of the original sitcoms, they are not that thrilled with the reboots.
Compare Internet consulted FlixPatrol, Google Trends, and Ranker to find the most popular ‘90s sitcoms and reboots in every state. The survey, commissioned from market research firm Pollfish, collected responses from approximately 100 respondents in every U.S. state, from a wide age range of participants aged 16 years and older.
