It’s unbelievable, but one of the weirdest shows to ever air on TV is celebrating the debut of its tenth season this September. The Masked Singer is like that really goofy kid you knew at school who despite their flaws, you couldn’t but help like him. And for all of its weirdness, the show is still pretty family-friendly to boot.

The next season of The Masked Singer premieres on September 10 on FOX after the network’s NFL Double Header before moving back to its regular timeslot on Wednesdays weeks later. The goofiness begins with a special celebrity performance and reveal (“one of the biggest, can’t-miss unmaskings in the show’s history!” they say) and the return of six celebrity “alumni” from previous seasons. Michelle Williams, Rumer Willis, Joey Fatone, Bow Wow, Victor Oladipo and Barry Zito – who all donned a costume in previous years, will pair up for three duet performances. And yes, they will be able to perform the songs unmasked this time around.

Every season of The Masked Singer begins with some new twist. Later in the month, season ten will begin with yet another “all-new format” with three groups and special “Battle Royale” semi-final episodes. With sixteen total celebrity singers, season ten boasts amazingly intricate (and in some cases, tasty) new costumes including “Donut,” “Anteater,” “Hawk,” “Hibiscus,” and a life-size “S’More!”

The season will also feature new themed episodes as well including the frightening “Trolls Night,” (ahead of DreamWorks Animation’s Trolls Band Together movie), “Harry Potter Night” (airing the week of Halloween), and an episode celebrating the music of Elton John.  Other themes include: “NFL Night,” “One Hit Wonders,” “Disco,” “2000s Night,” “I Wanna Rock” and “Soundtrack of My Life.” The themes will be weaved throughout the performers’ song selections, costumes, celebrity guests, set design…and maybe even clues as to who is under the mask? Of course they will! Finally, the show is also bringing back fan favorite celebrities from previous seasons with special performances throughout the season.

As much as the show changes its season, two things that never change (yet) is the host and the celebrity panelists. Nick Cannon hosts with Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg, Nicole Scherzinger, Ken Jeong and Robin Thicke all making wild guesses of “who is that?” under the masks. And like previous seasons, Wild Card contestants will return to shake up the competition with one Wild Card introduced to each group. Additionally, the annoyingly named “Ding Dong Keep It On Bell” will be back in the Battle Royale semi-final episodes where the panelists can choose to save one contestant from elimination and move them directly to the finale. It’s near pandemonium and we all still love it.

The Masked Singer’s tenth season premiere will air on September 10 at 8 p.m. The show officially begin its new season on Wednesday, September 27 on FOX.
