It’s really happening! The almost forgotten, long-awaited movie, Coyote vs Acme is really coming to theaters! On Wednesday, Ketchup Entertainment started their marketing campaign for this Warner Bros. cartoon movie, and it is brilliant.

The coyote mentioned in the title is for Wile E. Coyote – the guy with a penchant for chasing roadrunners since the 1960s and has never caught one, or at least, not for very long. And now, five decades later, he’s had enough. Wile E. blames his failures and missed opportunities on Acme, the company who he claims have made faulty equipment that he uses to catch that bird. Check out the logline for the movie:

“After enduring years of catastrophic product failures at the hands of Acme, Inc., a tenacious, unemployed coyote uncovers a corporate cover-up and spearheads an unhinged battle against the multinational conglomerate that’s been blowing him up in the name of profit. Also, there’s a roadrunner. And dynamite.”

In Coyote vs Acme, Wile E. hires another potential failure, attorney Kevin Avery (Will Forte) to go against Acme Corporations’ lawyer, Buddy Crane (John Cena). As the two work together, and uncover a coverup, the two become friends. The movie also stars Lana Condor, Tone Bell, P.J. Byrne, Martha Kelly and Luis Guzman. Eric Bauza, who voices many Warner Bros, cartoon characters is providing the voices for most if not all the animated actors. And as a bonus to fans, this movie will also feature Bugs Bunny, Tweety, Daffy Duck, Porky Pig, Foghorn Leghorn (who may or may not be a villain in this story) and more.

What I really love about this movie – judging from the trailer – is that it really “feels” like a classic cartoon. The Day the Earth Blew Up is funny and is worth watching, but it’s a little too over the top. This one just feels right. It is a mix of live action and classic 2-D animation similar to what was used in Who Framed Roger Rabbit. 3D animation is great, but there is something about the look and feel of the classic cartoon characters in their true form that is special. It’s nostalgic.

Oh! Ketchup Entertainment also posted their synopsis for the cartoon adventure:

“After decades of being blown to bits by bombs, demolished by dynamite, mangled by magnets, battered by boulders, trampled by trains, tricked by tunnels, sprung by springs, steamrolled by steamrollers, maligned by misfires, bedeviled by bungees, rattled by rockets, backstabbed by bat suits, rocked by rocket skates, upended by unicycles, quaked by quake pills, rubberized by rogue bands, and hurled headlong off every cliff in the Southwest, Wile E. Coyote (Genius) finally fights back. Teaming up with billboard accident lawyer Kevin Avery (Will Forte), he takes on slick corporate counsel Buddy Crane (John Cena) and ACME, Inc., the profit-obsessed conglomerate behind every one of the Coyote’s chaotic catastrophes.”

Coyote vs. Acme opens in theaters on August 28, 2026. If this movie is half and good as the press materials, we’re in for a fun ride. What a great way to end the summer!
