Tim Allen Will Appear in New ‘Santa Clause’ Series

Even though we are now in January, we are still talking about Santa Claus, or rather, Tim Allen and Disney’s Santa Clause franchise. On Friday, Disney announced that the Home Improvement star and “Disney Legend” will again don that famous red suit one more time for an upcoming Disney+ limited series.

Allen starred as Scott Calvin, the man who allegedly killed the jolly old eld in the original 1994 move, The Santa Clause and became him. In 2002’s sequel, the cleverly titled, The Santa Clause 2, he faced a second “clause” where he had to get married or Christmas would be ruined. And returned for a third time in 2006’s The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause where he went up against his arch enemy, Jack Frost.

In this new extended story, “Calvin is on the brink of his 65th birthday and realizing that he can’t be Santa forever,” says the Disney press release. “He’s starting to lose a step in his Santa duties, and more importantly, he’s got a family who could benefit from a life in the normal world, especially his two kids who have grown up at the Pole. With a lot of elves, children, and family to please, Scott sets out to find a suitable replacement Santa while preparing his family for a new adventure in a life south of the pole.”

This is another slam dunk for the streaming service which currently offers all three movies in its current set of offerings. Allen and Disney have a long, rich history together with Allen starring in two ABC sitcoms (including Last Man Standing), appearing as Buzz Lightyear in four Pixar full-length Toy Story movies, other Disney sitcom films like Jungle 2 Jungle, The Shaggy Dog remake and more.

No word yet if other original actors for the Santa Clause movies will reprise their roles as well. Of course, what we all really want is a movie where Santa has to play the role of Tim Allen.
