Maybe blame it on COVID-19 and the fact that none of us have been in a theater for months or maybe we don’t hang out in the right places, but it turns out that comedian Micheal Jr. is starring in a new movie that is debuting as a home release this Friday, June 19.
Selfie Dad, the faith-based comedy (yes, I did say comedy) is about Ben Marcus who despite everything he has (he’s healthy, happily married with two beautiful kids, and has a successful career as a reality TV editor) he isn’t happy and is facing a mid-life crisis. The cure? To fully realize his dream of being a professional comedian.
So, after Ben tries his hand at becoming a YouTube sensation, his videos flop. That is until his son tries his turn at posting his father failing at a home improvement project. Now – he’s a hit and becomes known as “Selfie Dad.”
Now, while this all looks and sounds a little silly, don’t give up on this film just yet. Check out the trailer below. This movie doesn’t appear to be your average Christian flick. In fact, the film actually makes fun of itself with Ben’s daughter telling an older woman, “I don’t really like Christian movies.”

Selfie Dad is Brad Silverman’s third Christian feature film following 2010’s No Greater Love and 2013’s Grace Unplugged which won numerous faith awards and didn’t do too shabby in box office sales as well. The casting is good with fellow comedian Chonda Pierce, James Denton (known for his work on Desperate Housewives, Good Witch as well as Grace Unplugged), Karen Abercrombie (known for her role as Ms. Clara in the film War Room), singer-turned-actress, Jamie Grace and new-comer Dahlia Waingort.
Selfie Dad premieres on many digital services on Friday, June 19.
