I Am Second: Mike and Carrie

Mike Fisher and Carrie Underwood

Mike Fisher dreamed of playing hockey in the NHL and he achieved that dream at the age of 19 when the Ottawa Senators selected him in the second round of the 1998 draft. Carrie Underwood first rose to fame as a contestant on season four of American Idol. She’d go on to dominate the season and ultimately win and become the show’s most commercially successful artist.

With the help of a friend, Mike and Carrie met and began dating in 2008 and married in the summer of 2010. They are raising two young sons while maintaining their busy professional lives. He’s a hunter. She’s a vegetarian. Despite their fame and successes, they are still human.

The hockey player and the singer open up about their marriage, parenting, heartbreaks, and purpose in a four-part short film series, Mike & Carrie: God and Country for I am Second. Each of the four episodes provide insight as to how they, with two distinct personalities and careers, stay grounded in the midst of the many peaks and valleys of their lives.

“Because of the bravery of these people we film, and all those that partner with us, our content has been viewed more than 120 million times by people in over 230 countries/territories. Nearly everyday we receive personal messages of the kind the impact these stories make in the lives of individuals who are looking for something more. What they find here is hope.” – I Am Second
