Paramount Pictures and Skydance Sports have released a new trailer for Mr. Irrelevant which promises to be the next inspiring underdog story. During each NFL draft, it is a “tradition” to call the final draft pick, Mr. Irrelevant. During the 1983 draft it was John Tuggle who became the last player selected by the New York Giants. Despite this, John Tuggle (a shockingly blonde David Corenswet) went on to defy expectations.

It took some time for Tuggle to impress his first-year head coach, Bill Parcells (Michael Shannon). That road was a bumpy one. He had better luck with his newfound love (played by Isabel May). Even when life threw its worst at him, Tuggle proved that remarkable hope and perseverance can transcend even the greatest challenges.

Since 2021, Skydance Sports has been a subsidiary of Paramount Sports Entertainment dedicated to sports films and programs. Their previous feature films have been Air (2023), Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story (2024) and Mighty Mary (2026).

RECENT MOVIE REVIEWS

Matt Damon in "The Odyssey"
Matt Damon is Odysseus (Matt Damon) in The Odyssey. (Universal Pictures)

The Odyssey is an action/adventure film, this is true, but it is also emotional theater. There is a feeling of dread from the first moment the movie begins. The dread doesn’t let up until just before the credits roll. It is as enjoyable as it is sobering.

Tom Holland as Spider Man contemplates in front of his computer in Spider-Man Brand New Day
Peter Parker/Spider-Man (Tom Holland) (Jay Maidment/Columbia Pictures)

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is the best of all the movies that came before it. It still has plenty of action (the scenes that feature “The Hand” are especially cool), but it doesn’t dominate the story or go into eyeroll territory during the climax that so many other superhero movies do.

Ewan McGregor and Anne Hathaway in "The End of Oak Street"
Ewan McGregor and Anne Hathaway in The End of Oak Street (Warner Bros.)

The End of Oak Street is similar to Jurassic Park but without all of the science-y stuff. It’s like the a “B” movie from the 1950s but with a bigger budget. It’s full of jump scares, humor and heart. It’s the perfect popcorn movie of the summer.

Milly Alcock and Matthias Schoenaerts in "Supergirl"
Milly Alcock and Matthias Schoenaerts in Supergirl. (Warner Bros.)

Parents wanting to take their little girls to see Supergirl to enjoy some “girl power” should think again. Maybe the next one, but in this PG-13 film, Kara is hardly a role model. Not only that, but Supergirl is quite violent and intense.
