Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey looks epic (no surprise there), but it’s just one of current and upcoming films that are really good. Last week, The Devil Wears Prada 2, Mortal Kombat II and Michael held the top spots at the box office. Also, I highly recommend watching The Sheep Detectives, I Swear (reviews down below) and Remarkably Bright Creatures with Sally Field on Netflix.
Also, this Monday: Upcoming films in the coming months, movie trailers, last weekend’s Top 10 Movies and a few movie reviews.

COMING ATTRACTIONS
Upcoming movies coming our way soon
The Odyssey

Can Christopher Nolan ever just make a “little” movie? From a trilogy of Batman films to Inception to Oppenheimer, Nolan always goes big. And what better movie to go big with than an adaption of Homer’s ancient Greek poem, The Odyssey presented on IMAX screens?
Written and directed by Nolan, The Odyssey is a mythic action epic shot across the world shooting in the countries of Greece, Morocco, Italy, Iceland and Scotland. The entire epic was filmed using a brand new IMAX®film technology.
But Nolan has been getting some flak for using actors and actresses that speak with American accents rather that British which is commonplace for big productions like this. Even Tom Holland and Robert Pattinson, who are British, speak in an American accent. Some of the dialogue sound like contemporary banter too. Personally, I think Nolan knows what he’s doing, and these decisions might make the movie easier to understand – unlike Inception. The other American accents belong to the likes of Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, Lupita Nyong’o, Zendaya and Charlize Theron.
The movie won’t be released in theaters until July, and already it has been reported that the Homer tale has made $1.5 million already due to advanced ticket sales. Because of this stunt, it could very well be the highest-grossing film of the year.
The Odyssey opens on July 17, 2026.
Propeller One-Night Coach

Written, directed, narrated, produced and starring John Travolta, Propeller One-Way Night Coach is a love letter about Travolta’s love for flying. The movie also stars his daughter; Ella Bleu Travolta and the whole thing is based on John’s children’s novel of the same name.
Set in the golden age of aviation, a young airplane enthusiast Jeff (played by newcomer Clark Shotwell) and his mother (Kelly Eviston-Quinnett) set off on a one-way cross country odyssey to Hollywood, which transforms a simple flight into the trip of a lifetime. Between airline meals, charming flight attendants (Ella Bleu Travolta and Olga Hoffmann), unexpected stopovers, larger-than-life passengers, and a thrilling glimpse at first class, the journey unfolds in moments both magical and unexpected, charting the course for the boy’s future.
A movie that is appropriate for all ages, premieres on Apple TV on May 29, 2026.
Minions and Monsters

Illumination describes this newest Minions adventure like this: “This is the rambunctious, ridiculous and totally true story of how the Minions conquered Hollywood, became movie stars, lost everything, unleashed monsters onto the world and then banded together to try and save the planet from the mayhem they had just created.”
Minions & Monsters is directed by Pierre Coffin who has a knack for this type of humor. He directed the first three Despicable Me movies and the first Minions movie. Coffin is also the official voice of the Minions – all of them since 2010. The other cast of characters are voiced by Allison Janney, Christoph Waltz, Jeff Bridges, Jesse Eisenberg, Zoey Deutch, Bobby Moynihan, Phil LaMarr and Trey Parker.
This will be the eighth movie that the Minions have appeared or starred in. Why does Illumination keep making these movies? According to a recent press release, these little guys “have propelled Illumination’s Despicable Me and Minions to a global box office of more than $5.6 billion.”
Minions and Monsters raises havoc in theaters on July 1, 2026.
Focker In-Law

When Meet the Parents came to theaters in 2000, it was a smashing success. Made with a budget of $55 million, the film came home with $330.4 million. The Ben Stiller and Robert DeNero-led comedy also got high marks from Rotten Tomatoes who give it an 85% fresh rating.
While subsequent Focker movies have still been profitable, that doesn’t mean that they were any good. 2004’s Meet the Fockers with Dustin Hoffman and Barbra Streisand got a 38% rotten score and 2010’s Little Fockers fared even worse with a 10% rotten score. By that as it may, Universal Pictures doesn’t think 16 years is too long for another sequel. With the star power of Ariana Grande, the latest installment, Focker In-Law, might do just fine.
From the trailer, the new tale appears to be just as cringy as the original one. This time around though, Greg and Pam’s son, Henry Focker (Skyler Gisondo taken over the role from Colin Baiocchi) brings Olivia Jones (Grande), a former FBI hostage negotiator, over to meet the family. She and retired CIA agent Jack (De Niro) should get along just fine.
Teri Polo, Blythe Danner, and Owen all reprise their roles as Greg’s wife Pam, Pam’s mother and Pam’s ex-fiancé, who is still a part of this family’s life for some reason. Beanie Feldstein steps in the role of Greg and Pam’s daughter, Samatha (previously played by Daisy Tahan). The movie is written and directed by John Hamburg, who co-wrote all of the other films.
Focker In-Law opens this Thanksgiving.
