This Day in Pop Culture for May 23

1934: Bonnie and Clyde are Shot
On this day in 1934, the infamous duo of Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow were shot to death by both Texas and Louisiana state police riddling their stolen car with a spray of bullets. Bonnie met Clyde when her husband was serving time for murder. During the relatively short romance, both were convicted of crimes and served time in jail. During a two year spree, the couple met up with other unsavory types and robbed a string of banks and stores across five states. The couple were famous for basically two reasons: Bonnie was a woman (of course) and the two posed for a many playful photos during their “time on the road.” It is believed that the Barrow Gang are responsible for the death of 13 people.
