“The Candy with the Hole” has been around since 1912 and it all that time, there has never been blue LIFE SAVERS. And they still haven’t – technically. However, Sparkling Ice has just released a new Blue Raspberry LIFE SAVERS flavor just in time for the summertime holidays.
The Talking Rain company has been around since 1987 making sparkling water products. They upped their game in 1992 when they introduced the Sparkling Ice beverage line. Those sugar-free, fruity beverages have been a favorite of many. But with the variety of flavors staying pretty much the same all these years, don’t you want to try something new? They thought so too.
In late 2024 Talking Rain launched a partnership with an unlikely brand – wait for it –Starburst candy.
How do you make a liquid beverage taste like one of your favorite chewy candies? Well, those flavor masters aren’t ready to give out any trade secrets just yet but just know this – they have become a huge success.
The Starburst rollout started out with four flavors (cherry, lemon, orange and strawberry) that taste just like, well, candy. And not in a generic way. They actually taste like the real thing. A little while later, they added fruit punch and watermelon to the lineup which are also pretty tasty. But they were only getting started.
Earlier this year, Talking Rain began rolling out flavors from another childhood favorite – LIFE SAVERS. Standing straight, the 17 oz. bottles look like large rolls of the famed candy.
“Talking Rain is committed to creating better-for-you beverages that continuously push the boundaries of innovation,” said Ken Sylvia, CEO of Talking Rain. “Working with brands like LIFE SAVERS allows us to give consumers even more reason to reach for Sparkling Ice.”
For this round, the company choose Wild Cherry, Strawberry, Pineapple and a limited edition Green Apple. And that last one was difficult to do. Making the beverage not only taste but also making it in an appealing green color while only using natural flavors and colors was a real challenge. However, they did get some help from special ingredients like apple juice concentrate, beta carotene, Indian gooseberries, green tea extract and other natural ingredients.
So, no sugar, carbs or artificial dyes – but they DO contain a handful of vitamins and antioxidants for good measure.
Now, just in time to celebrate our countries 250th birthday, Sparkling Ice has begun offering special Red, White and Blue 12-packs with two more new LIFE SAVERS flavors: Blue Raspberry and White Grape (the other two flavors in the pack are Wild Cherry and Strawberry – so a little heavier with the red than the white and blue).
