The 55th Annual Country Music Awards is being celebrated in a big way this year with three TV specials airing ahead of “country music’s biggest night” November 10 on ABC. This is a big deal, even for the network where every other month seems to be a CMA celebration of some sort or another.
This year, the actual award show will begin at 8 p.m. on Wednesday and will be hosted by music star and American Idol Judge, Luke Bryan with performances by Jason Aldean, Carrie Underwood, Luke Combs, Miranda Lambert, Old Dominion, Chris Stapleton, Chris Young, Kane Brown, Jimmie Allen, Brothers Osborne, Eric Church, Dan + Shay, Mickey Guyton, Brittney Spencer, Madeline Edwards, Carly Pearce, Ashley McBryde and Blake Shelton.

But the festivities begin a few nights earlier on Saturday or Sunday, November 6 or 7 depending on your local listings. On the Red Carpet: Countdown to the CMA Awards is a half-hour of interviews with Luke Bryan as well as many of this year’s nominees. In addition, country music stars Ryan Hurd, Michael Ray and Lainey Wilson bring cameras along as they visit some of their favorite local hot spots in Nashville, Tennessee.
On Monday, November 8 at 10 p.m., Backstage Pass: Countdown to the CMA Awards is a unique special where various country stars were filmed before a camera crew for an amazing seven days and 168 hours across 24 different cities. Those featured in the special include Luke Bryan, Jimmie Allen, Lauren Alaina, Lady A, Carly Pearce and Keith Urban all meeting fans along the way.

Early evening on Wednesday beginning at 6:30 p.m., ABC News’ actual On the Carpet at the CMA Awards special stars GMA’s Lara Spencer, CMA artist Jimmie Allen and George Pennacchio from KABC-TV in Los Angeles for the all important news from the carpet of red as well as a behind-the-scenes look just before the awards are handed out live. The coverage promises lots of interviews with many of the nominees.
