This Day in Pop Culture for November 24

1993: America Meets Mrs. Doubtfire
It was on this day in 1993 when Mrs. Doubtfire premiered in theaters across the US. Robin Williams starred as the divorced dad who pretends to be an older, British nanny to take care of his children while his ex-wife (Sally Field) was at work. Directed by Chris Columbus, the film was a huge hit and many remember the film fondly. By the time he took the role, he had already earned two Oscar nominations for Good Morning, Vietnam and Dead Poets Society, so playing a role in drag was a natural next step.
