With National Beer Day “celebrated” on April 7, 2022, TOP Data did a little digging on habits of beer drinkers in the U.S. post Covid-19. According to this study, researchers found that Budweiser is the most popular beer brand in the U.S. ranking as the most popular choice in 23 states. The next popular one? Bud Light scoring six states. Even in the states where a different brand was on top, Budweiser still ranked in the top five. Its popularity is undeniable. Other states have been partial to their own local brewers. Colorado’s most popular beer is from the Denver Beer Co. Delaware celebrates Dogfish Head, Illinois likes Goose Island and there is no way that Texas will give up Lone Star. These microbrews are gaining popularity all across the country. (I wonder how big you can get before you can stop calling your company a microbrew…) Find out the top five most popular beers in your state here.

Not surprisingly, sales of alcohol between 2020 to 2022 rose by 8.92%. By while alcohol consumption is up, the study also noted a pattern in the prevalence of light beers, suggesting an increase in demand for lower-alcohol options. In fact, non-alcoholic beer sales grew 15.9% in the last two years. However, you’ll notice that none of them made the list for most popular beer.
