Affirm Films and Sony Pictures Animation’s holiday hit of 2017 is returning to movie theaters for two days only the first weekend in December at select theaters. Personally, we’re thrilled to see it come back and in “celebration” of the event, Writer of Pop is giving away a DVD copy of the film and two amazing children’s books which would make for nice Christmas gifts this year. See details below.

The Star is the perfect family movie! It gives an ‘animals’–eye view’ of the first Christmas in a way that is funny, engaging and inspiring,” says actress Patricia Heaton who voices Edith the Cow in the movie. “Moms, dads, grandparents and kids will be swept up in the adventure of a new look at a timeless story.”

The Star tells the story about a small but brave donkey named Bo who yearns for a life beyond his daily grind at the village mill. One day, he finds the courage to break free, and finally goes on the adventure of his dreams. On his journey, he teams up with Ruth, a lovable sheep who has lost her flock and Dave, a dove with lofty aspirations. Along with three wisecracking camels and some eccentric stable animals, Bo and his new friends follow the Star and become accidental heroes in the greatest story ever told – the first Christmas.

This animated tale was created with the talents of Lisa Henson and Brian Henson (Jim Henson’s daughter and son who each have a list of credits of their own) and DeVon Franklin (producer of Miracles from Heaven).
